Description:

The Office of University Writing and Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art invite faculty to attend "Seeing Across the Curriculum," a workshop focusing on ways faculty can incorporate visual thinking into their teaching. The half-day event will open with a panel discussion during which faculty from disciplines such as architecture, geosciences, veterinary medicine, and art history, will discuss the role vision plays in their disciplines and how they teach visual thinking. After the panel discussion, participants will engage in activities that aim to help them develop ideas about how to use the museum’s collections and exhibitions (and visual arts in general) in their teaching. The goal of the workshop is for participants to leave with tools to develop lessons and assignments that use visual observation to hone students’ observational, analytical, and interpretive skills. Seeing Across the Curriculum will be held on Monday, May 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. Registration for the workshop is free, but required, and space is limited. Click here to register.
