Description:

The Women’s Studies Program presents a faculty panel discussion titled “Women, Gender, and Social Justice” on Wednesday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. Featured faculty are Mitchell Brown from the Department of Political Science, Valentina Hartarska from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, and Megan Haselschwerdt from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. They will be discussing their current research emphases including social justice issues related to elections and election administration; female leadership, microfinance, and poverty; and domestic violence, exposure to domestic violence, help-seeking and legal reporting experiences. After the panelists’ presentations, there will be a question and answer session. Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public. The event is organized and chaired by Paula Backscheider, Philpott-Stevens Eminent Scholar in the College of Liberal Arts.
