December 18, 2014
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art

The Museum Café is open every Thursday night from 5 to 8 pm with tapas, beer, wine, and specialty cocktail menus. Prices range from $7 to $10, and the portions are meant for sharing.

From 6 to 8 pm, hear live jazz in the lobby by some of the best local and regional musicians. The house band is the Cullars Improvisational Rotation. Others will occasionally perform.

Based in Auburn, Alabama, the Cullars Improvisational Rotation consists of the core trio of Dan Mackowski (guitars), Patrick McCurry (saxophones) and Jason DeBlanc (bass), along with special guests.   At its heart it is a jazz group, with its members being versed in jazz standards and the language of American jazz improvisation.

The name comes from Auburn University's Cullars Rotation, the oldest soil fertility study in the South and one of America's oldest, continuous field crop experiments. With ambient sound and a thoughtful approach, the musicians aspire toward intuition and experimentation. It is the soil of the south, the vehicle of jazz, and the music of space.
