September 1, 2014 marks the centennial of the extinction of the passenger pigeon – once the most abundant bird species in North America, if not the world. "The Art of Vanishing" is presented in response to Project Passenger Pigeon, a national program created by scientists, educators, conservationists, artists, musicians, filmmakers, and others, working together to commemorate the anniversary of the passenger pigeon's extinction and use it as an opportunity to promote habitat preservation and species conservation.

The Auburn University Museum of Natural History and Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Sciences and Mathematics generously partnered with JCSM for this collaborative exhibition.

This faculty panel will address species loss and biodiversity, and the interface with art, culture and social systems.

Join our panelists: Jason E. Bond, Nanette Chadwick, Geoffrey Hill, Mike Kensler, Keetje Kuipers, and Christopher McNulty.

Auditorium seating is limited, so advance registration is encouraged online.
