The School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences will host a guest seminar on January 17 at 10:30 a.m. by Dr. Timothy Sellati titled, "Phylogeography of the Lyme disease vector Ixodes scapularis across an apparent zone of northward expansion in New York."
Dr. Sellati is the senior research fellow and chair of the Infectious Diseases Department in Southern Research's Drug Discovery Division. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Dowling College in 1985 and a doctorate in cellular and developmental
biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1996. Sellati’s current research focuses on immunity to Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, vaccine development against biological threat agents and emerging pathogens, and harnessing self-assembling
antimicrobial nanofibers to target antibiotic resistant pathogens.
Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is not required. The seminar will be held in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Conference Room 1101 located at 602 Duncan Drive. Parking is available nearby for faculty and students.
