February 16, 2016
Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center

University Presidents Speak, presented as a signature event of the Auburn University Outreach / Tuskegee Auburn Women’s Leadership Alliance Symposium, will be a two-part presentation from four women presidents on Tuesday, February 16 in the Auburn University Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.

In the Presidential Panel, from 2:00-3:15 in ballroom B, the presidents will share their personal stories of challenges and obstacles they faced on their journeys to the top. From 3:30-5:00 in the Terrace Room, the presidents will join students, faculty, staff, and community members for a networking reception to continue conversations regarding diversity, engagement, and inclusion in the administrations of universities.

“We selected presidents whose leadership illustrates their commitment to engaging with others and leveraging resources to improve circumstances for all members of our communities,” said Dr. Chippewa Thomas, Director of Faculty Engagement and co-sponsor of the symposium.

The presidents include President Gwendolyn E. Boyd of Alabama State University; President Sharon Gaber of University of Toledo; President Mary Ellen Mazey of Bowling Green State University, and former president and Provost Molly Easo Smith of Saint Martin’s University.

“We are especially excited that these presidents have a strong relationship to Auburn and a deep understanding of our cultural environment,” said Dr. Barbara Baker, Executive Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute and co-sponsor of the symposium.

All of the events of the Auburn University Outreach / Tuskegee Auburn Women’s Leadership Alliance Symposium are free and open to the public. While it is not necessary to register to attend the signature events—University Presidents Speak and the Dr. Mae Jemison Extraordinary Women Lecture to be held in the grand ballroom at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17—the co-sponsors strongly encourage those who would like to participate in the concurrent sessions from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on February 16 and 17 to register at http://www.auburn.edu/outreach/facultyengagement/symposium.htm.
