Animator and digital artist is guest filmmaker for 2015 Jay Sander Film Series

The guest filmmaker for the 2015 Jay Sanders Film Series is noted animator and digital artist John Pomeroy.  He has worked for Disney Animation and contributed to many animated films including “Planes” (2013), “The Simpsons Movie” (2007), “Pocahontas” (1995), “All Dogs Go To Heaven” (1989), and “An American Tail” (1986).  Pomeroy also played a significant role in creating the groundbreaking animation for the video games "Space Ace" and "Dragon's Lair" (1 and 2).

Pomeroy will share his experiences at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art auditorium on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. He will talk about the animation process - particularly developing a story and then animating it – and how to give the characters a personality. There will also be a demonstration of his art and a question-and-answer session. The presentation is free and open to all.

Each year the Jay Sanders Film Festival brings a film professional to campus to screen her/his work and guide students in the artistry and industry of filmmaking.
