The Office of Public Service will host a Community Partner Training: Managing Conflict in Organizations on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce (714 East Glenn Avenue). The event is co-sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University.

 

Admission is free, but seating is limited. Light refreshments will be provided.

About Speaker:

Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., civil rights icon and Breeden Eminent Visiting Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, will discuss “The Thick and the Thin: Managing Conflict in Organizations.”
   
Dr. LaFayette’s leadership experiences are vast and instructive. He was a leader in the Nashville Movement sit-ins and the Freedom Rides, co-founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and appointed by Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968 as national coordinator of the Poor People’s Campaign. He is internationally recognized as a nonviolence educator, and he is the author of the award-winning book In Peace and Freedom: My Journey in Selma, with Kathryn Lee Johnson. LaFayette is chair of the board of directors of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
