January 15, 2019
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Location: FW 3315 Conference Room

The International Center for Climate and Global Change Research at Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences will host Dr. Rui Xin Huang, scientist emeritus of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who will give a talk today at 2 p.m. titled, "Oceanic general circulation and climate change" in the Dixon Executive Conference Room 3315 of the SFWS Building at 602 Duncan Drive.

Dr. Rui Xin Huang received his PhD from MIT and has been working as a scientist in the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at Princeton University and the Woods Hole Oceanographical Institution for over 30 years. He is recipient of the W. Van Alan Clark, Jr., Chair for Excellence in Oceanography, which is the highest recognition at WHOI. Dr. Huang's research has centered on theories and models of the oceanic circulation with a particular interest in thermocline and thermohaline circulation and their links to climate dynamics. He has solved many of the classical problems in ocean circulation that are crucial to understanding how the oceans control climate, and is working to correct many of the problems that exist in models of the climate system. He is considered a pioneer in the study of Oceanic general circulation and climate change.
