Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: Pebble Hill

The public is invited to attend a free holiday film screening, fruitcake contest, and open house on Thursday, December 13 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Pebble Hill (101 S. Debardeleben Street) in Auburn.

Attendees will tour the historic Scott-Yarbrough House (1847) in holiday décor, enjoy coffee from Ross House Coffee, and taste fruitcakes baked by members of OLLI at Auburn and youth members of the Lee County 4-H History Seekers Club. Winners of the fruitcake contest will be announced following a screening of the 1966 holiday classic, A Christmas Memory, based on Truman Capote’s short story. Guests are encouraged to read the short story in advance, and a free, online copy is available at For those who detest fruitcake, additional refreshments will be provided.

Participants interested in registering a homemade fruitcake for the contest should arrive no later than 5 pm.

The free event is sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, the Lee County 4-H History Seekers Club, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn, and Ross House Coffee.
