December 13, 2018
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: Pebble Hill

The public is invited to attend a free holiday film screening, fruitcake contest, and open house on Thursday, December 13 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Pebble Hill (101 S. Debardeleben Street) in Auburn.

Attendees will tour the historic Scott-Yarbrough House (1847) in holiday décor, enjoy coffee from Ross House Coffee, and taste fruitcakes baked by members of OLLI at Auburn and youth members of the Lee County 4-H History Seekers Club. Winners of the fruitcake contest will be announced following a screening of the 1966 holiday classic, A Christmas Memory, based on Truman Capote’s short story. Guests are encouraged to read the short story in advance, and a free, online copy is available at https://bit.ly/2TPjXdQ. For those who detest fruitcake, additional refreshments will be provided.

Participants interested in registering a homemade fruitcake for the contest should arrive no later than 5 pm.

The free event is sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, the Lee County 4-H History Seekers Club, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn, and Ross House Coffee.

Pebble Hill is located at 101 S. Debardeleben Street, Auburn. For more information on the program, call 334-844-4903 or visit www.auburn.edu/cah.
