August 30, 2018
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM
Location: Mell 3550

Faculty who have participated in Auburn’s Course (Re)Design program have experienced transformative results related to their teaching. One participant shared: “Thank you! After years of teaching I finally have an idea where to start in terms of planning.” However, not everyone has significant time to devote to course design in the summer. This workshop series will help faculty and GTAs get started on the process, experiencing the Mell Classroom Building @ RBD Library.

In this first workshop, participants will explore the power of aligning learning outcomes, assessments, and activities. Please have a particular course in mind for this workshop and bring your course goals with you to this session.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn how to use the backward design process to align student learning goals, assessments, and activities (Fink, 2005)
  • Use the “Active Learning Menu” resource to identify strategies you can apply immediately to your course
  • Collaborate in small teams to redesign and receive feedback on your course goals to be used in the new classroom

Please note, this is part one of a four-part workshop series. Participants are encouraged to register for all four parts.
