Visiting Breeden Eminent Scholar Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr. and students in his Leadership for a Global Society course will present case studies of international nonviolent movements on Monday, April 23 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Pebble Hill in Auburn.

LaFayette was a co-founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a leader in the Nashville lunch counter sit-ins, a Freedom Rider, an associate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the national coordinator of the Poor People’s Campaign. He is chair of the National Board of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

The event is free and open to the public, and copies of LaFayette’s book In Peace and Freedom: My Journey in Selma, will be available for purchase and signing. Pebble Hill is located at 101 S. Debardeleben Street. For more information, contact Mark Wilson at mwilson@auburn.edu or 334-844-6198.
