Reacting to the Past is a game-based approach to immerse students into historical situations and broad contexts through role-playing founded on research.
This panel discussion will provide examples of Reacting to the Past and discussion about implementation into a course, including students’ perspectives.
Students learn more effectively when the content can be related to their personal experiences, interests and life situations. Reacting inspires students
to think about the broader contexts of situations past and present, and to engage critically with perspectives different from their own, whether debating democracy in
Athens in 403 BC,
the future of English drama in London in 1592,
the impact of human activity on the environment in Copenhagen
in 2009, or
food and hunger studies.
