English Language Learners (ELL) are a large and growing population on Auburn’s campus. For this reason, we recognize the importance of teaching these students effectively, as well as the challenges that may exist in responding
to these students’ writing. The Office of University Writing invites those who currently teach students to attend this workshop, where we will identify common myths and misconceptions about teaching ELL students while working to better understand different
language structures. We will consider how to implement and adapt strategies that identify big picture patterns in learning, rather than by line editing. Participants can expect to leave with a better understanding of strategies aimed at teaching ELL students
and an action plan for integrating these approaches into their own courses. Click here to
register or visit the WriteBites Workshops webpage for more information.
