Join the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities and the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission for a free workshop on African American cemetery preservation.


Led by Frazine Taylor and Elvin Lang, the workshop will cover cemetery art, maintenance of historic cemeteries, how to place a cemetery on the Alabama Historic Cemetery Register, and how to use cemeteries in your genealogical research. Visit aub.ie/cemeteryworkshop to register.


Frazine Taylor is the former Head of Reference for the Alabama Department of Archives and History and has over twenty years of experience as a librarian, archivist, lecturer and writer. She is the author of Researching African American Genealogy in Alabama: A Resource Guide and currently serves as the chair of the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission.


Elvin Lang is a member of the board of the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission and a former manager for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
