October 27, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Location: Dudley Hall courtyard

Hosted by the Auburn University American Institute of Architecture Students, or AIAS, the annual carving in the courtyard of Dudley Hall is a much-anticipated fall event.

Carving begins at 9 a.m., punctuated with all day events such as a costume contest and appearances by Aubie. Refreshments include hot dogs and hamburgers at lunch with various snacks, treats and beverages sold by college organizations during the day.

The pumpkin lanterns will be lit at 6 p.m., which marks the end of carving. The judges will evaluate the designs based on creativity, appearance and craftsmanship. Pumpkins often feature current event themes and artistic detail.

Prizes will be awarded and winning pumpkins will be announced at 7 p.m. along with winners of the costume contest, who must be present to win. At 7:30 p.m., the winning pumpkins will be auctioned to benefit the AIAS. Other carved pumpkins will be available for purchase for a minimum donation of $5 with those proceeds also benefitting the AIAS.

The Dudley Courtyard is located between Dudley Hall and Dudley Commons, which is adjacent to the Graves Amphitheatre on the Auburn University campus. After 5 p.m., visitors can park in the South Quad Parking Deck on Lem Morrison and Duncan drives.

The College of Architecture, Design and Construction will be live on Facebook and Instagram at @au_cadc. For a complete schedule of events, go to: http://cadc.auburn.edu/explore-cadc/events/view/314.
