Topic: Auburn Aviation: A Rich History and a Bright Future
Bill Hutto is the airport director for the Auburn University Regional Airport. He is responsible for the airport’s overall management, including marketing, public
relations, planning, budget preparation/management, consultant management, construction and personnel matters. In addition, he is responsible for the operation of the fixed-base operation that provides all aircraft and pilot services.
In 2014, Hutto also became the director of the newly-formed Auburn University Aviation Center. The overall goals are the center are to foster statewide economic
development; strengthen the university’s aviation programs; enhance the student experience; and offer aviation-oriented outreach opportunities. He also teaches airport management as an adjunct instructor at Auburn University’s Raymond J. Harbert College of
Business.
Prior to joining Auburn, Hutto spent more than 10 years in Titusville, Florida working for the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority, where he served as executive
director for his last seven years there.
A native of Eufaula, Alabama, Hutto obtained his bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Auburn University. He also earned in doctoral degree in public administration
and public policy from Auburn, and he obtained his master’s degree in aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
