Time: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Location: Sciences Center Auditorium

Author William Stolzenburg will give a presentation on his book “Heart of a Lion” on Thursday, Sept. 22nd at 3:30 p.m. in the Sciences Center Auditorium. Stolzenburg, who is a 2010 Alicia Patterson Journalism Fellow, has written hundreds of magazine articles about the science and spirit of saving wild creatures and is the author of the books “Rat Island” and “Where the Wild Things Were.” His newest book, “Heart of a Lion,” chronicles the life of a young Mountain Lion that left his home in the Black Hills of South Dakota and set out on a cross-country journey that covered two years and more than 2,000 miles across America, passing within 30 miles of Manhattan before ending tragically on a Connecticut parkway. In his presentation of images, film, and firsthand accounts of those whose lives were touched by the record-setting cat, Stolzenburg will shed light on this modern odyssey of perseverance and survival against overwhelming odds. The author will also be available for a book signing at 3 p.m., and a limited supply of books will be available to purchase. The event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Department of Biological Sciences and the Auburn University Museum of Natural History.
