The public is invited to a talk by Arianne Gaetano, author of Out to Work: Migration, Gender, and the Changing Lives of Rural Women in Contemporary China, on Wednesday, February 24 at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill.

Out to Work: Migration, Gender, and the Changing Lives of Rural Women in Contemporary China details the experiences and consequences of internal migration on rural Chinese women’s lived experiences and life course trajectories, based on a decade of ethnographic fieldwork in Beijing and China’s countryside.

Arianne M. Gaetano is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology and a Faculty Affiliate of the Women's Studies Program at Auburn University. A Cultural Anthropologist, her research focuses on contemporary Chinese culture and society, and she has spent several years studying language and conducting ethnographic fieldwork in China.

The event is free, open to the public, and will be followed by refreshments. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill is located at 101 S. Debardeleben Street, Auburn. The historic 1847 Scott-Yarbrough house, known as Pebble Hill, will be open for tours from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
