In 2014, Suaudeau released his debut novel, Dawa, an Arabic word meaning “invitation.” In modern French street slang, it means chaos, mayhem. Dawa tells the story of a mutiple Islamic terrorist plot in Paris, several months prior to the Charlie Hebdo and the November 13 attacks. In 2015, it was followed by Le Français (The Frenchman), the story of a French country boy who turns into an ISIS executioner in Syria. It has been unanimously praised, and confirmed Suaudeau’s standing as one of the most promising voices in contemporary French literature. Currently, Suaudeau is a French teacher in the Haddonfield, NJ, school district.
