Audiology professor to discuss outreach and research on aging adults

Professor of Audiology and College of Liberal Arts Engaged Scholar Sridhar Krishnamurti in the Department of Communication Disorders will discuss his experience in developing outreach initiatives with aging adults as part of the CLA Engaged Scholars Lunch-n-Learn series on Monday, Nov. 3 at 11:45 a.m. in 310 Tichenor Hall.

Dr. Krishnamurti and his Audiology students have been actively engaged in educational and research initiatives relating to communication problems in older individuals with cognitive decline and hearing loss in partnership with Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Opelika. The aging population in America is expected to double by 2050 and Alzheimer’s dementia is the most common form of dementia associated with memory, thinking, and communication problems.

The program is sponsored by CLA’s Community and Civic Engagement Initiative and is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided. For more information, contact Dr. Mark Wilson, at mwilson@auburn.edu or 844-6198.
