April 10, 2014
Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art

A North Carolina artist is breathing new life into retired cigarette machines. With the pull of a lever, you can purchase an original work of art and discover a new artist. Clark Whittington will share this effort to combine the worlds of art and commerce in an innovative form when he meets with students and presents a lecture.

There are over 100 active machines converted to vend art, and JCSM will be a future home of an Art-o-Mat this spring. Created in 1997, Artist in Cellophane’s mission is to encourage art consumption by expanding access to artists' work. The organization believes that art should be progressive, yet personal and approachable.
