Join IMPACT, Black Student Union, and the Office of Inclusion and Diversity for a day of community service as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! 

The day will begin with volunteer check-in and a kickoff box lunch provided by Pannie-George's Kitchen, which will take place in Melton Student Center Ballroom B. 

Free t-shirts will be provided to volunteers at check-in on a first-come, first serve basis while supplies last. Doors open at 11:30 AM! 

We are pleased to welcome Professor Robert R. Bubb as the keynote speaker for this event. Professor Bubb is a faculty member within the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University and serves as a coordinator for rPAAST (Research to Preserve African-American Stories and Traditions). With the support of community partners, Professor Bubb works to research, preserve, and present local African-American history in Lee County. 

 

Volunteers will be serving at the following job sites: 

Our House Auburn – Painting, organizing, cleaning, trash pickup 

Opelika Learning Center – Trimming bushes, tidying up trees 

Food Bank of East Alabama – Sorting, organizing, cleaning 

The Curtis House – Painting and staining 

Job sites will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis at check-in, so come early! 

Tools, gloves, and other necessary equipment will be provided by IMPACT. 

 

Please dress in comfortable, warm attire that you don’t mind getting a little messy. Closed-toe shoes are required. 

 

Timeline of the day: 

11:30 AM – Doors open; Volunteer check-in; Lunch begins 

12:05 PM – Kickoff program begins 

12:40 PM – Volunteers break to travel to project sites 

 1:00 PM – Service begins at project sites 

 3:30 PM – Service concludes; Volunteers dismissed
