WriteBites Chats are monthly discussions over lunch that focus around a single theme throughout the semester. During each session, we will explore what scholarship has to say about this semester’s topic – Responding to Language
Differences in Academic Writing. As university professors, we work hard to help students understand professional writing and communication. But what happens when students struggle to communicate? How do you balance the demands of teaching professional standards
and expectations with respecting language and dialectical differences among your students? Over the course of the semester we will take a deep dive into these issues, reviewing scholarship on this topic and sharing ideas and strategies we can apply to our own
teaching. Registration is required, space is limited, and participants are asked to commit to attend all four sessions (9/11, 10/9, 11/6, and 12/4). Click
here to register now or visit the WriteBites Chats event page for more information.
