The public is invited to a book talk by Frank Uhlig, photographer and editor of
Alabama Views and Words.
Alabama Views and Words is a photobook that brings Alabama’s rich past into the present and points to its future. It includes 80 photographs by Uhlig, captured
throughout central Alabama, along with stories, essays, poems, songs and legends by local authors.
Featured authors include Effie Piliouini Albrecht, N. N. Anonymous, Ken Autrey, Mary Quinn Burkhard, David Carter, Wendy Cleveland, Ruth Crocker, Patricia Disque, Claire T. Feild, William Ogden Haynes, Dorothy
Hinkle-Uhlig, Peter Huggins, Laray Kelly, Jamie Marchant, Ted McVay, Charlene Redick, Crystal H. Rogers, John Shadrick, and Ralph Womer, Jr.
Frank Uhlig is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Science and Mathematics. He has been taking photos since he received his first camera in 1955.
The event is free, open to the public, and will be followed by refreshments. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill
