JCSM opened to the public on October 3, 2003. Over the last ten years, the permanent collection has grown to include approximately 2,000 works of art ranging from traditional to contemporary. Permanent collection highlights include: mid 20th century American modernism, J.J. Audubon prints, modern Mexican printmaking, 20th century works on paper pertaining to the South, Belleek Irish porcelain, self taught artists from the South. Take a look back at the collection highlights from the ten years in JCSM@10: A Decade of Collecting.

As part of the museum’s 10th year anniversary focus on sculpture, JCSM will present an exhibition of the work of acclaimed artist and Auburn University alumna, Jean Woodham. The selection of pieces in this exhibition reflects her long and successful career as a sculptor, which began in the late 1940s. Woodham is noted for her large-scale public sculptures, two of which are featured on the university campus: Spinoff, sited at the entry of JCSM, andAuburn Monody, located outside the Goodwin Music Building.

Breath of Identity, organized for JCSM, addresses the concept of artistic collaboration and the nature of a melded identity that is inherent in the work of Carol Mickett and Robert Stackhouse. Featuring a series of large paintings with related drawings, prototypes and engineering studies for recent sculpture projects, and sequential photographs of the Hunter Museum installation, the exhibition offers insight into Mickett and Stackhouse’s shared creative process.

Admission is free courtesy of JCSM Business Partners. Auburn University students receive free online memberships with student ID. Individual and Family levels are also available for faculty and staff. Plan your visit online at www.jcsm.auburn.edu. Art Changes Lives!
