Constitution Day 2013
Please join the College of Liberal Arts, as well as students, faculty, and community members on Tuesday September 17th to commemorate the 226thanniversary of the U.S. Constitution. There will be two unique opportunities to discuss the Importance of the Constitution in the 21st Century, and both events are free and open to the public.
The first event begins at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Foy, room 258. The Hon. W. Keith Watkins, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama (Auburn ‘73) and the Hon. Todd J. Campbell, judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, will lead a question and answer session on topics such as the role of the federal judiciary under the U.S. Constitution, and discuss how someone becomes a federal judge.
The second event is at 3 p.m. in the Student Center, room 2222, and will be led by Judge Campbell, who will give a lecture entitled, “The Constitution and Conventional Wisdom: It May Not Be What You Think It Is.”  Campbell was appointed in 1995 after serving as counsel to the Vice President of the United States. He has presided over thousands of cases in his nearly twenty years on the bench.
Both of these events are being sponsored by the Departments of History and Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts, and the Auburn University Provost Office.
